Vice Minister Yu Xinrong Meets Austrian Federal Minister for Sustainability and Tourism Elisabeth Köstinger

On the afternoon of April 9, 2018, Vice Minister Yu Xinrong met with Elisabeth Köstinger, Austrian Federal Minister for Sustainability and Tourism, in Beijing. Both sides exchanged views on deepening agricultural cooperation.

Vice Minister Yu introduced major functions of the re-organized Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as well as measures and position China has taken to enhance agricultural product safety and develop agricultural trade. He emphasized that China attaches great importance to the quality and safety of agricultural products and strongly promotes green agriculture including organic agriculture. China is willing to construct an organic tea demonstration base together with Austria so as to deepen bilateral cooperation in organic agriculture. Yu also pointed out that China adheres to the principles of trade liberalization and facilitation, and that China is willing to develop trade on agricultural products with other countries including Austria and import featured high-quality agricultural products on the premise that safety is ensured, so as to provide customers with more choices.

Minister Köstinger expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and highly appreciated China’s position in adhering to trade liberalization and facilitation. She also said that Austria will actively promote cooperation with China in organic agriculture and trade on agricultural products. (SOURCE:MOA Information Office)
